To start.....

Okay, I've never done this before. I apologize ahead of time if there are spelling errors and stuff. To start off, I have a serious reading problem, like I'm currently going through a book in 1-3 days. I'm just going talk about books I've read and stuff. Warning: I might rant quite a bit :).

Current Book: Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Impressions: Good but a bit slow. I can see that he got paid by the word for this.

Most Recently Read Book: Child of The Dark Prophecy by T.A Barron
Impressions: WOW! His writing has improved so much since the Lost Years of Merlin series. There was like no descriptions of trees down to the tiniest detail. This book had much more action and plotting than the earlier series. In terms of characters I didn't like Elli as much, the entire book I was like, Elli, I know you've been a slave and that your parents are dead and stuff, but do you have to take it out on everybody??? Tamwyn was ok but seriously reminded me of Merlin a lot. Scree didn't have enough screen time to really develop as a character. The Bad Guy felt really kind a la little kids movie, you know kind of flat and evil 'cause they want to be......
I have some rants on the original series's first book. WARNING THERE MAY BE SPOILIERS AHEAD First off, Emrys's/Merlin's blindness... if your going to give him a magical second sight, why blind him in the first place? All you devoted fans of the series, I know there's a reason later in the books but for now it is just annoying. Also, his second sight was very changable, he'd say it was unreliable and them move on to describe, in minute detail, a nearby tree. I don't know, it just bugged me :(. Also the great Starwars moment towards the end felt really silly because the chick he was hangin' with was his sister and by this point it feels like a carbon copy. I was kind of expecting Stagmar (That's his name, right?) to slice off Merlin's hand.

Mood: Curious about blogging :)
